I like the Fresh News by WooThemes very, very much. It’s my new favorite theme! It was a pretty penny to purchase, but I use the theme on three (maybe four?) blogs, and it’s wonderfully versatile. I had a blast today, tinkering with the theme. I love the new colors. I also had fun making a custom header, favicon, and footer caricature. It’s a slick design, especially for a tech blog like this one.
Fresh News comes in a dozen various color combinations. The overall style of the theme remains the same; however, you can add thumbnails of various sizes to posts. You can have two columns of partial featured posts, or one column; you can have post header photos of 540 pixel width, or 100 width in a thumbnail. You can insert logos, banner ads, AdSense banners, etc. It’s a terrific theme, easy to work with, and looks absolutely classy! Thumbs up to Magnus Jepson, the creator.
Moreover, there are a lot of very nice Free Themes by Woo Themes; I use Bueno for one my blogs. Great job!
Update: At the request of a reader, I wrote a tutorial about Fresh News theme: How to Customize the Fresh News Woo Themes Header. It’s rather easy, and a customized header makes your blog look very classy indeed.

Great blog…do you have any idea how I add banner ads to the freshnews theme? I have some on the sidebar but I want one under the categories of my page.
Thank you

Hi Delia, and thank you for your comment. There may be a banner-ad option in the Fresh News “Theme Options” in the WordPress Dashboard sidebar. Also, WooThemes has excellent support forum where you can search for answers, or ask one yourself. I have often been helped there.

Hi Rebecca,
I recently had a friend just give me the Fresh News theme for my blog but I’m having a little trouble customizing my header….ok alot of trouble. I’m not the most tech savvy person in the world but I would love to know how to do it myself. Do you coach on customizing? I would love to talk to you some time.
Thanks!
Emily

Hi Emily. I use Fresh News on several of my blogs, each with their own customized header. I’ll be happy to explain how to customize the header. I’ll post a tutorial within a few days. So stay tuned! Thanks for visiting The Older Geek.

Hi, thanks for the reviews, I have also just bought the theme for my blog, can I please ask how I can add a post thumbnail to my post preview which are in line and to the left of the text preview or excerpt? I don’t want to use images that would span the main div T_T, is there a way please without the post boxes being cut in half(when I change colo scheme my post divs or boxes get cut in half so now my homepage has 2 columns plus sidebar which I dont prefer) can you please help? or a simple tutorial?
